Just Getting Things Started…
Hi everyone! I’m Inara, and I’ll be taking over the Ghana World Cup blog from now on. Things are a bit slow right now, but with the upcoming African Cup of Nations being hosted in Ghana, soon there will be lots to talk about. So watch this space.
Just to tell you a little bit about myself, I also blog over at The Offside about all things Lyon. Though I’m a Les Bleus supporter at heart, I’m rather embarrassed of the fact that I know so little about football outside of Europe. So when Daryl sounded the call asking for more bloggers, I thought this was as good a time as any to change that.
I asked for Ghana for two reasons – first because it’s time I’ve forgiven Michael Essien for leaving Lyon the way he did, and second because they’re one of Africa’s most successful teams and yet haven’t won any silverware in over a decade. It’s time for that to change, and I have every confidence that Ghana will go far this time, especially because they will be buoyed by their home support.
I’ll do my best to update this blog frequently, though it might be slow at first since I have a lot of reading up to do on my new team. So please bear with me as I get to know the Black Stars, their players, and all the things that make this team so unique.

Welcome Inara, great to have such an excellenet blogger to be a part of the WCB team. It’s cool you picked Ghana and I understand your reasons for doing so. You picked wisely too for if you look at the recent trends in African Cups, the home team has a ridiculous advantage. I can’t complain as Tunisia benefitted from this very advantage in 04′. Looking forward to hearing what you have to say about the Blackstars. Whatever happens in the ANC I know its gonna be exciting. Can’t wait!!!

Thanks for the welcome, Rami! I’m actually really glad I picked up Ghana because now I’ll have to follow the ANC, which I’ve never done before. It’s a refreshing change from the usual Champions League/Euros, and I’m looking forward to adopting another team.
