The kids just can’t seem to shoot straight these days. No more than two days after securing a sensible friendly with Hannover 96, the Black Stars announced Thursday that the friendly was cancelled, ostensibly because of the club team’s organizational problems.

The GFA seems to have “organizational problems” of its own, though. Word is that the factions that have been carving up the GFA for months have struck again. Mr. Y A Ibrahim, the distinguished former president of the FA has been stripped of his ceremonial title as a commissioner of the CAF by our old pal Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi, current head of the GFA.

All of these rumblings are, of course, somewhat insider baseball. But when you see the aimlessness of the Stars’ World Cup preparation strategy, their lack of decisiveness in handling the “dangling Doya” situation, and the continual lapses in protocol in ensuring that team members get proper notice and visas to travel, one can see the effect that this internal dissent has had on the effective functions of the GFA. Gentlemen, it is time for us all to pull together and to bear down. Germany is only a matter of months away!
