Ghana Trying to Nail Down More Friendlies
While Starry Wisdom takes a much needed vacation, I will fill in with some Ghana news. The country’s football federation is looking to further solidify its schedule of exhibitions leading up to the World Cup. This might include a couple of games against teams from the Bundesliga. A federation official has told the Ghana media the following:
“We have confirmed two games in May. The 26th of May, a game against Turkey in Germany and then the 29th of May, a game against the Reggae Boyz of Jamaica in London and then, of course, the 4th June game against South Korea in Glasgow, Scotland.
“What we are trying to do now in view of the FIFA directive is to get a couple of Bundesliga sides to give us two matches in the first and fourth week of April so that we can continue with our observation and monitoring of our players in real match situation before we submit our final list on the 15th May.
“It would be difficult to get national teams to play in April, so we are still trying to arrange so that we can get some Bundesliga sides to give us two matches.”
I really don’t think it matters who Ghana plays, but it is important that the team gets to play together and gel. An active schedule between now and the start of the World Cup might be just what the doctor orders.
