Mexico Friendly looks Dim
Word on the street is that the Stars will not be out in force for their trip to Dallas. According to the Ghana Football Association, no confirmation has been received from first team keeper Sammy Adjei or recent call up Isaac Boakye that they will travel. In addition, recovering midfielder Sulei Muntari is said to be having visa difficulty.
The loss of Adjei for the friendly will disrupt his rhythm, but will be a good opportunity to see if backup keeper George Owu can be depended on in an important match. Playing without Muntari is more troubling. The lineup of Muntari, Essien and Appiah was considered to be the strength of the Stars, and given their injuries early this year it is difficult to see when they will have an opportunity to play against first team competition outside of camp.
Moreover, with Muntari threatening to miss the friendly, it is unclear whether Essien will actually show. The notoriously fickle buffalo has claimed frequently that he would appear, but there has been no confirmation yet that this will occur.
Next month’s friendly versus Mexico could have been a good test of the Stars ability to regroup following the CAN debacle. Now it just looks like a good opportunity for Americans to get a gander at the sceond team of their future World Cup competition.

Bummer. I was looking forward to driving the RV to Texas to watch Ghana at its best, but I guess taking a gander at the geese is the best we can get.
