Protest over Ghana CAN Debacle

February 1st, 2006 | By: Robert | No Comments »

Well, It is over. For the Stars at least, and in a most ignoble fashion.

The spinmeisters have already begun with their blubbering and dissembling about who was healthy (Appiah no, Kuffour, yes? then why play the opposite?), what limited chances they had given the injuries (then why bother playing at all?) and the like.

The truth is, the lads played well versus Nigeria, won a powerful victory versus Senegal and were well positioned for advancement despite some adversity. Then they played an unusual lineup versus very much unfancied Zimbabwe (no Amoah?), came out extremely sluggish and defensive and were bettered by a team that had more ambition.

If not prompted from vocal critics from without yet, one must certainly suspect that Ratomir Dujkovic should be conducting a deep introspection. If he needs a private place in which to do it, I have a shed in Wa to offer (watch for scorpions!).

In mourning over this unwelcome turn of events, I will spend today and tomorrow handicapping the rest of the Cup (looks like a short stay for overrated Tunisia versus Group of Death dominators Nigeria) and desist from speaking about Black Stars for at least a few days.
