Who are these guys, Anyway?

April 25th, 2006 | By: Robert | No Comments »

Just yesterday, we get news of a wave of new European talent to appear with the Stars at next week’s friendly versus Stuttgart, ostensibly because Doya has it in his head that European based players will be better performers in Germany this summer. Now we hear that there will be at least eight local men, though not National Team regulars, suiting up next week. Loyal German Ghana fans may well wonder who the impostors are on the field representing the Stars. A breakdown below:

The players added are: Hearts of Oak’s Daniel Coleman, Dan Quaye and Bernard Bortley; Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s Charles Taylor, Aziz Ansah, Yusif Chibsah and Shillah Illiasu and King Faisal’s Habib Mohammed. All of the locals with the exception of Taylor are likely to make the trip, with Taylor reportedly nursing an injury. The players will fill the void left by foreign based professionals unable to otherwise appear and all are relatively new to the international scene. More details when available.
