Ghana’s ‘Decision Sunday’ + Tema Youth pre-relegated
Two days from now would be ‘Decision Sunday’ in Ghana’s Glo Premier League. Hearts and Kotoko both need wins if they wanna take it that bad.
The GPL, don’t forget, has been exciting but that hasn’t stopped King Faisal boss Gruzah from smearing the league in mud. Says he:
“We should not hail a league that is the most corrupt league in the world as perfect
“We have seen that with many clubs involved in the relegation fight phone calls are being made here and there.
“Anybody with an objective eye will see that there is massive corruption in the league. If we are brave we should bring in an independent person to observe.”
This year’s competition has been touted as the best in many years with the league title race and relegation fight going down to the wire.
As many as five clubs are involved in the relegation dogfight while Hearts of Oak need a final day victory to take the league for the 20th time.
And speaking of relegation, Tema Youth have become the second side – after Mirren – to be relegated after being docked points by the FA’s disciplinary wing. They fielded Emmanuel Clottey in a league match after two sides contested his eligibility.
Clottey signed for Tema Youth during the mid-season transfer window but his previous club Great Olympics claimed his registration was not proper.
Clottey has since been given a one-year ban. Full details here.
Thus, we are left with – technically – 14 teams in the league. Tema Youth play All Blacks who are not in a not-so-good-position themselves in 15th.
All the games
Hearts of Oak – St. Mirren
Chelsea – Liberty
All Stars – Hasaacas
RTU – AshGold
Kotoko – Faisal
Tema Youth – All Blacks
Eleven Wise – Kessben FC
Heart of Lions – Arsenals
Italicised teams are already relegated.
