Confidence on the Rise
In a stunning changeabout from the past months, fears in the Ghana camp these days stem largely around over-confidence, rather than a lack of confidence. Emotions are riding high in camp, and most observers have said that the Stars appear confident and excited for Monday’s Group E opener versus Italy.
While most of the Stars have maintained a dignified (if exuberant) silence, Sammy Kuffour echoed sentiments felt by all when he said the the squad were in good spirits and had “nothing to lose” versus heavy favorite Italy.
Truly, the Stars appear to be coming on after Sunday’s surprisingly easy win versus anticipated knockout round hopeful South Korea. Coupled with mounting injuries to the aging (and let’s face it somewhat soft) Czechs, the door may be open to Ghana if it can score an upset.
Certainly an upset next Monday would all but assure future success.
