Controversy Swirls

Seems like the Grandmaster remains in the hot seat. Head Technician Ratomir Dujkovic has been at the center of numerous imbroglios since the start of the year, whether over his CAN lineup (missing Michael Essien?), his management decisions during the Cup, and the possible links that he has to foreign clubs (and the ethical problems that would raise). Now his very management is being questioned.

Alhaji Kareem Abdul Grunsah, owner of the local Kumasi King Faisal side, has reignited the fire on the conflict of interest question, noting that one of his players was asked to sign a contract as part of his participation with the Stars. These allegations have been researched by GFA, but there has been no finding released to date on the issue.

More importantly, Grunsah has strong questions about Doya’s performance and called for him to be sacked.

From where I sit, the questions of financial interest in national team players is one that has not been fully answered. If the Grandmaster is collecting fees, even finders fees, for the connection of his national team players with European club teams, this will impact who he plays and chooses for the national team. This is an embarrassment of the highest order, and if the allegations are true, something must be done.

If the allegations are true, that’s bad and wrong, and the guy has to go.

However, from what I can see from a distance is that Africa Football federations are corrupt coteries and organizational stupid. At the first sign of failure they sack the coach or they just switch out players for the sake of switching players out.

Not just Africa, but Europe as well, needs to develop some patience and realize that not all games mean the same thing.

This guy said, I think, that the AFN Cup wasn’t about winning it but getting prepared for Germany. I mean wants more important, ANC or WC? Africa shouldn’t even be having this tournament at this time. They need to go to a 4 year cycle in my opinion just like Europe.

I hope Ghana gets its stuff together for Germany because I for one want to see the best out of them, because their best is really, really great.
