Dujkovic Predicts World Cup Surprise

April 26th, 2006 | By: Robert | No Comments »

Maybe only a surprise to some, and certainly not to the loyal readers of this site. The Grandmaster, Ghana head technician Ratomir “Doya” Dujkovic spoke out publicly about the Stars chances in Germany and his words, while ensconced in a shroud of mystery as always, were a note of optimism to Stars loyalists Worldwide.

Doya brashly predicted an upset in Germany (though honestly, the Stars will probably need more than one upset to make any waves, seven is a closer number) based on hard work, discipline and team spirit. The Grandmaster covered his tracks, though, warning that inexperience and nerves could be costly against tough competition.

Doya predicted also that Ivory Coast and Tunisia had the best overall chances of success for an African squad (with Ivory Coast getting the nod for most likely to advance even in the face of more fancied competition) and said that he expected that Togo and Angola would have a particularly tough time of it. It was noted that of all squads, Angola was most likely to return home winless, although given Togo’s tough matchups, it may not be entirely fair to predict that they would go home winless alone.
