False Allegations

February 25th, 2006 | By: Robert | 1 Comment »

Mr. Kwasi Nyantakyi, esteemed president of the Ghana Football Association, has lashed out at the viper tongued jackals of the press, especially the Nigerian press, for disseminating unsubstantiated claims about the dealings of the GFA. He particularly asked that the press not malign GFA officials for no apparent reason.

Mr. Nyantakyi allowed however that press with a reason to malign GFA officials should continue to do so.

The GFA’s official statements came as a result of growing concern around Accra that certain GFA officials had unnecessarily imposed on the Ghana football team at CAN in Egypt, potentially causing confusion at the tournament which might have led to the poor performances that followed.

Of all of the CAN justifications that I have heard, this is certainly the most specious. How unlikely is it that a team full of trained professionals could have been swayed by meddling from a gaggle of low level bureaucrats. Or that the Grandmaster would have such lax discipline that this could even occur.

Still all of this smoke from Nyantakyi suggests some fire. Methinks he doth protesteth too much.

It is about time someone called out the Nigerian press for trying to foment dissent in other countries. After watching the shite they have tried in Togo and Ghana, I am only thankful they don’t have much influence in Tunisia.
