Ghana World Cup Squad Named

May 12th, 2006 | By: Robert | 9 Comments »

After weeks of speculation, Head Technician Ratomir “Doya” Dujkovic has officially named his 23 member World Cup Lineup. The listing is below. Each of these players will be detailed in the following days:

Keepers- Sammy Adjei, George Owu, Richard Kingston

Defense- John Painstil, Samuel Osei Kuffour, John Mensah, Addoquaye Pappoe, Sheila Illiasu, Dan Quaye, Issah Ahmed, Habib Mohammed, Hans Adu Sarpei

Midfielders- Michael Essien, Sulley Ali Muntari, Derek Boateng, Stephen Appiah, Eric Addo, Otto Addo, Haminu Dramani

Strikers- Asamoah Gyan, Mathew Amoah, Razak Pimpong, Alex Techie-Mensah

Surprises? What happened to Joetex “the Nigerian” Frimpong, Emmanuel Boakye and Samuel Johnson? 4 local team players making the cut, against Doya’s stated philosophy? Richard “the Black Hole” Kingston? Too many to mention right now

Boakye is hurt right? And Kingston is banned from the WC for a red card at the Africans Cup right?

You are thinking of Laryea Kingston, who is out. Richard Kingston, the keeper, has stolen Philemon McCarthy’s hard earned third keeper spot.

I think no changes should be made at this very time since there will be doubts cast for the coach.

Has anyone else heard the rumor that Freddy is going to be playing for Ghana because he was not named to the US squad?

We Arabs & Moslems in general sympathize with Ghana and wish the Ghanian team the best. However, this enthusiasm was deeply affected after a Ghanian player raised the Israeli flag in the game against Czech Republic. He must have raised his country’s flag instead. On behalf of 300,000,000 Arabs & more than 1.3 billion Moslems, I condemn this provocative act to hundreds of millions, which appears at a time when the Israeli Zionists are killing Arab babies & Arab innoscent people every day…
