Last Nail in the Coffin?

March 1st, 2006 | By: Robert | No Comments »

Even as word comes of the increasing importance of today’s Mexico friendly to the Grandmaster, word is that star midfielder and captain Stephen Appiah is missing in action. No official word has been given on the cause, and rumors have begun to arise.

The most common rumor is that draconian and self-serving visa requirements have claimed another casualty. While one wonders whether the United States Department of State has such an abiding interest in football to stoop to these levels, it cannot be helped but note that the Americans, a Ghana opponent in Germany, have every interest in seeing disunity and infighting amongst its competitors. Could it be the case that through denying visas, the US is attempting to sabotage the Grandmaster, and the Ghana football team’s Germany dreams?

Another innuendo is that Appiah has gone missing of his own volition or, more nefarious yet, at the direction of certain rogue factions of the GFA. While it cannot be contemplated that a sportsman of such upstanding honor as Stephen Appiah could be complicit in such an intricately orchestrated coup d’etat, one begins to wonder at the events as they have unfolded of late. Some speculate that newly appointed technician Mr Sam Arday has some hidden agenda in the mix.

I suppose more can be gainsayed after today’s match.
