Ray of Hope?
Just when you thought it could get no worse- and the stink really is starting to rise- comes word of some unsettlement in the camp of the rival Super Eagles.
Apparently, Nigeria and Bolton Wanderers star midfielder Jay-Jay Okocha has become “unwell” and is not practicing with the Super Eagles. This, if true, would be a sad conclusion for Okocha, who at 32, has concluded that this CAN will be his international swansong and who will reportedly absent himself from the national team shortly following.
Like Ghana, Nigeria lack no shortage of injuries, as Nwankwo Kanu (Cheek) and Joseph Yobo (shoulder) are both gimpy but competing. Unlike the Stars, the Super Eagles have had trouble forming a cohesive squad, starting from skipper Eguavoen’s decision to invite 51 prospectives to train for the national side, and have played very few friendlies to grow some camaraderie.
Do all these worries from Lagos bode well for the Black Stars side? We will have to wait until monday to find out.
