Stuttgart friendly today!
The good news- the Stars are back in action today with a friendly versus Bundesliga side VfB Stuttgart. Tickets are available for only 6 Euro if you happen to be in Wurzburg.
The bad news- Only certain of the Stars are available. Missing in action will be Michael Essien, Ali Sulley Muntari, Captain Stephen Appiah, Sammy Adjei and Sammy Kuffour (ie 3/4 of the Stars’ midfield, their keeper and the heart of their defence). Who will be playing in this rag-tag bunch? You might recognize George Owu, the backup keeper who was jittery earlier this year versus Mexico in Adjei’s absence. Or Matthew Amoah (the only regular available), on the condition that he actually plays; his trainer has accompanied him to Germany to track an existing injury.
Notably absent- Joetex Frimpong and Prince Tagoe. Hopefully we will see them again, but after the miserable CAN performances each suffered, and Frimpong’s memorable claims afterward to be Nigerian, both may be absent for the year.
