Winless Streak Continues- Final Friendly Cancelled
The Stars have retained their unblemished record for 2006 recording their third consecutive friendly loss yesterday versus Egyptian club side Ismailia.
The 2-1 defeat was gained by a lineup featuring few regulars and captained, in the absence of Stephen Appiah, by Hamza Mohammed. Baba Armando did score the Stars’ first goal of 2006 in the first half.
The Stars had the opportunity to further compound their misery today, as they were to face two other sides, Egyptian club El-Masry and the womens’ side Sisters of Hope and Charity, but were forced to cancel, citing lack of motivation.
In other news, Fenerbahce, supported by missing captain Appiah, proved superior 3-0 to Genclerbirligi in Turkish club action yesterday. Perhaps the captain can bring a taste of victory back to Port Said.
