World Cup-Best of Africa?
If yesterdays international friendlies showed me one thing conclusively (if anything can be conclusive at this early stage), it is that the rest of the world have little to fear from Africa this summer.
Four friendly losses (admittedly to fair international squads) and Togo idle rests the weight of the evidence against any African surge in Germany. And minnows Togo are unlikely to start that revival what with a coaching crisis (not that Ghana are one to talk) and a recalcitrant star (…).
So what we have left in Africa to play for is the pride of being the best African performer at the cup. Based on work done year to date, how do YOU rate the squads? From my perspective, I have only one comment- Oh Charlie, thank goodness for Togo.
And all you Nigerians, sorry you can’t vote. Wait another four years.

Starry, I don’t know about Ghana but the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire will suprise a few people in the World Cup. They are of course the rising stars of Africa and I rate them very highly.

Tunisia will be just fine. We lost to a good Serbia team that can beat just about anyone in the world. I like the way our group is shaping up.

Angola is going to rock the World Cup like Michael Jackson on a stage. We might be losing a lot now, but that is all just fool’s loss to fake our opponents. The Palancas Negras will shock you this summer.

Pasha, my friend, I admire your passion, your African Pride and your undeniable love for the Palancas Negras, but I fear you may have caught a draft watching the freezing goings on in Korea. Angola will undoubtedly shock me in Germany, but it will likely be in the carryings on of its footballers in the beerhalls of Cologne (following an embarrassing drubbing) not on the pitch.
I can report from our intense scouting efforts (courtesy of coach Sam Arday), that the Mexican squad you will face has numerous weaknesses in the mid-field, is prone to fits of dispirit when pressed, and is overall a quite overrated bunch of malcontents.

Starry Wisdom are you Nigerian by any chance? Your cockiness and arrogance can only be atributed to being one who has drank from the Niger River. Join the winning team, my friend. It is not too late for you to support the Palancas Negras. You might get a whiff of what winning is all about.
